Audio Format Converter guide

Convert common audio files to MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, Opus, or AAC without uploading recordings to a remote server. Toolfy loads a browser-based conversion engine on demand, detects the codecs it can use, and performs the entire conversion on your device.

Key features

  • Convert AAC, M4A, MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, and Opus files
  • Create MP3 files at 128, 192, 256, or 320 kbps

Frequently asked questions

Are my audio files uploaded?

No. The conversion engine and audio processing run locally in your browser. Your selected files are not sent to Toolfy's servers.

Can I convert AAC or M4A to MP3?

Yes, when the loaded conversion engine reports AAC decoding and MP3 encoding support. Unsupported formats are automatically hidden.

Does converting AAC to MP3 reduce quality?

It can. AAC and MP3 are both lossy formats, so decoding and encoding again may remove additional audio detail. Avoid choosing a bitrate higher than necessary.

Why is the first load larger than a normal web tool?

Audio conversion uses a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg. The engine is downloaded only when needed and can then be cached by your browser.
