About HLS & M3U8

HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) is a streaming protocol developed by Apple that breaks video into small HTTP-based file segments. It is widely used by streaming platforms, broadcasters, and IPTV providers.

An M3U8 file is the playlist format used by HLS. It lists the individual video segments (or quality variants) that a player fetches sequentially to reconstruct a continuous stream.
